Vuvuzelas invade YouTube

Whether you like it or not, the World Cup fever is on and it has now even "infected" YouTube.

The fine fellows at YouTube, known for pulling pranks on an occasional basis, recently introduced a vuvuzela button for its videos.

VUVU MADNESS: Just click the football icon on the bottom right of the YouTube player for vuvuzela bliss.

Yes, you read that right. Log on to YouTube today and you'll notice a football icon on the bottom right of the YouTube player that enables the vuvuzela feature.

In case you missed it, the vuvuzela is a traditional South African instrument that has made its mark at this year's World Cup. It is constantly played by spectators throughout the matches and it sounds like thousands of angry bees swarming inside your head.

Suffice to say, the incessant buzzing of the vuvuzelas during each match has led to the instrument developing a love-hate relationship with football fans. You either like it or hate it.

For those who love it, the new vuvuzela button on YouTube enables you to watch your favourite videos with the sound of the vuvuzela buzzing in the background even after the video ends.

If anything, this move by YouTube just serves to showcase the cultural impact the humble plastic trumpet has had on the masses beyond the football crowd.

Let's just hope the sounds of the horns will finally die down once the World Cup season ends though...
