THE latest Lego version of a cinematic success, Lego Harry Potter, will be appearing in shops over the next few days and to mark the occasion Warner Bros has released a trailer detailing what can be expected from the game.
Coming out on Nintendo Wii, DS, PlayStation2, PlayStation3, PSP, Xbox 360 and PC, the game sees Harry and friends make their way through the various adventures detailed within the first four J.K. Rowling books.
All of this occurs within a typical Lego style, with building blocks flying to and fro as heroes and villains encounter each other in and around Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Though now part of a Lego videogame family that includes Star Wars, Batman, and Indiana Jones, the Harry Potter novels are certainly not the first to find themselves reborn in both cinematic and videogame form.
Lord Of The Rings Online has started trialling a free-to-play mode, and The Chronicles of Narnia stories have been given videogame tie-ins when they started hitting the big screen from 2005 onwards.
The post-apocalyptic STALKER games were heavily influenced by Andrei Tarkovsky's Stalker which in turn heavily drew upon Strugastskys' Roadside Picnic novel.
