KUALA LUMPUR: Nikon Malaysia is celebrating its tenth anniversary in Malaysia with a bang - from March 31 to April 3, the company is holding an exhibition at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre to showcase its products and services.
The anniversary celebration will have a variety of activities such as a model shooting contest, free image sensor cleaning for DSLR cameras, a showcase of photography and historic Nikon cameras as well as talks and seminars by renowned photographers.
Although Nikon has had a presence in this country since the 1950s, the company only set up an official local subsidiary in 2001 and the celebration is in honour of the tenth year of Nikon Malaysia.
The exhibition is targeted at both beginners and professional photographers alike, and is meant to showcase the various products (compact cameras as well as DSLRs) and services such as the Nikon Professional Service for professional photographers and Nikon Club Malaysia for consumers that are using any Nikon digital cameras.
According to David Ng, general manager for Nikon Malaysia, Nikon DSLRs have been number one in sales for six years running since 2004.
With the Nikon Club, the company hopes to better support Nikon camera owners by giving special offers and organising a range of photography-related activities. Ng said.
Meanwhile, Masanobu Tsunoda, managing director of Nikon Malaysia and Singapore, said that although Nikon's factory in Sendai, Japan, was affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster, production has recently started up again and should not affect worldwide supplies of Nikon professional cameras and lenses which the factory produces.
