PETALING JAYA: Streamyx and Unifi broadband service users in the country can expect to experience intermittent service disruptions until Sunday.
The Internet service provider Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) is carrying out maintenance work on the Asia-America Gateway submarine cable that links Malaysia to the United States and North Asia after detecting a fault on Sunday night.
According to a statement posted by TM on its website, www.tm.com.my, repair work started yesterday.
Streamyx users are likely to experience slow browsing speeds when accessing websites hosted in the United States and North Asia.
Customers using virtual private networks and other critical business applications linked to the United States, Europe and North Asia may also experience some level of service degradation, TM said.
Proactive measures have been taken to minimise the impact, such as diverting traffic to other networks to lessen congestion, it added.
