CANON's new Ixus 510 HS and 240 HS compact cameras are equipped with WiFi so users are able to transfer their images and videos over to their WiFi-enabled Tablets or laptops for faster editing or viewing on a bigger screen.
Users can also share those transferred pictures directly on their social network pages by installing Canon's CameraWindow application for iOS devices from the Apple AppStore.
To date, the app is only compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running on iOS 4.3 and later. Canon plans to introduce a similar app for Android devices soon.
The 10.1-megapixel 510 HS features a 12x optical zoom and a 28mm lens. Its 240 HS sibling has a 16.1-megapixel resolution with a 5x optical zoom and a wide-angle 24mm lens. Both can record full HD (1080p) videos.
Each model has a 3.2in PureColour II Touch LCD display, which has touch-to-focus and touch-to-capture functions.
Also available is the new Face ID function that allows users to register up to twelve faces, with five different profiles for each face. During photography, the camera can detect up to three of the registered faces - but priority would be given to the youngest face.
There is also a range of creative effects such as fish-eye, miniature, toy camera, underwater and super slow motion movie to make shooting more fun. There is also an option called Movie Digest, where users can add sound and record movements at up to four seconds simultaneously when taking still photos.
The Ixus 510 HS costs RM1,299 and is only available in black while the Ixus 240 HS retails for RM1,099 and comes in either silver, red, blue or black.
