An Android in your Walkman

SONY Malaysia is attempting to woo music lovers with the first-ever Android-powered Walkman, the NWZ-Z1060.

Designed with a unique ergonomic body, the Z1060's built-in xLoud speaker system lets you enjoy tunes without needing to plug it into a speaker dock.

Besides that, it has an anti-reflective 4.3in multi-touch LCD screen with a speedy 1GHz nVidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor for browsing webpages, watching videos and using apps.

Of course since the Z1060 is powered by Android, it has a generous selection of preinstalled apps and users can always get more from Google Play (previously known as the Android Market).

The new Walkman will feature Sony's S-Master MX digital amplifier that the company claimed reduces noise and distortion in your music.

With its distinct W.Button, users can easily launch the W.Control app to browse their music collection by simply flicking through the album cover art.

If you can't decide on what sort of songs you would like to listen to, Sony's SenseMe feature has 14 mood-themed channels to find the right tunes to fit your mood.

Just like some of Sony's other devices like the Tablet S and Xperia S, the Z series Walkman can share content with DLNA-enabled devices like TVs, PCs and home audio systems via WiFi.

But that's not all, you can super-size the entertainment content from your Walkman directly to your TV using a micro HDMI-out or connect via Bluetooth to your speakers or headphones.

The NWZ-1060 comes with 32GB of storage and will be available by the middle of April. No official price has been announced yet. - CHONG JINN XIUNG
