Canon's latest SOHO printer

CANON'S latest Pixma Ink Efficient E600 all-in-one photo (AIO) printer allows users to fax documents apart from the usual trio of print, copy and scan capabilities.

To protect users from accidentally sending confidential documents, there is a built-in security option that requires users to enter the fax number a second time, just before a fax transmission. If the number does not match the originally entered number, the AIO will cancel the fax.

The 4,800 x 1,200dpi printer has a rated print speed of 5.2 images per minute (ipm) for colour and 8.9ipm for monochrome documents. A borderless 4R colour photo can be produced in about 46 seconds, Canon said.

There is also an automatic document feeder that holds up to 30 sheets of documents at a time, allowing users to automate tasks like high-volume copying and scanning.

Like its predecessors, the E600 utilises the ChromaLife100 system - a combination of Canon's FINE high precision print head, dye ink and genuine photo paper - to deliver photos that are rated to last up to 100 years under proper storage conditions.

The printer supports a bigger black ink tank to enable users print up to 800 pages before replacing it with a new one.

Thanks to its Fast Front design concept, the E600 also sidesteps the hassle of replacing ink cartridges where users only need to open the front panel to reach and replace the cartridge, Canon said.

Similarly, blank papers can now be loaded through the front panel, instead of a paper feed situated at the rear of the printer.

With the included Easy Web-print EX software, users can easily print the main content of a webpage with a single click, without including any unwanted menu bars.

They can also clip and compile information from different webpages, and then compile them neatly into a single printed page - simultaneously saving paper and placing all important content together, said Canon.

The E600 retails for RM598.
