MX897
Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has got a quartet of new Pixma printers, namely the MX897, MX517, MX377 and E600.
The MX897 is a multifunction home office printer that comes with the ability to fax, print, copy and support for Google Cloud Print.
With Cloud Print, the user can print while away from the printer by using a smartphone or a laptop to send pictures and documents to the cloud and then on to the printer and have it done by the time the user goes back to the office.
The MX897 also has Pixma Cloud Link, a feature that allows users to connect to Canon's cloud server to get templates and even browse the user's online photo album on the 3in LCD screen of the printer.
The MX897 has a maximum print resolution of 9600 x 2400-dpi (dots per inch) and has a print speed of 9.3ipm (images per minute) for colour and 12.5ipm for monochrome.
MX517
Then there's the MX517 and MX377 which are similar AIOs (all-in-ones), i.e. both have integrated automatic document feeders which hold up to 30 sheets at a time, and an Easy Web-print EX software which allows for easy printing of web pages and content on the Net from a PC. Additionally the MX517 has mobile printing via WiFi and has support for Apple's AirPrint feature.
The E600 is an AIO printer targeted at the home office environment and comes with the ability to fax as well.
The printer comes with an integrated automatic document feeder that holds up to 30 sheets at a time, with a print resolution of 4800 x 1200-dpi and a print speed of 5.2ipm in colour and 8.9ipm in monochrome.
One unusual feature meant to prevent accidental faxing in this AIO is that it requires the user to enter the fax number twice to confirm the recipient.
Suggested retail prices are RM1,118 for the MX897, RM588 for the MX517, RM426 for the MX377, and RM598 for the E600.
