Game on in May

BACK OFF: The barbarian class' Warcry is a space clearing ability that comes in handy when enemies start to corner you in Diablo III.

THINGS are finally starting to pick up in the month of May for games in general.

After waiting for what seems like an eternity, Diablo III is finally ready for long time fans of the game. Another game that been on a long hiatus but is finally back on the scene is Max Payne 3.

With heavy hitters like these on the horizon, May is shaping up to be a very interesting month indeed.

Diablo III

This game needs no introduction. It is the dark fantasy RPG that everyone knows and loves. Many a computer mice died as players valiantly clicked with all their might to suppress the forces of darkness from escaping.

Now once again, players will embark on a quest to save the world of Sanctuary from certain doom.

You can select your hero from five unique character classes and do battle with demons and other despicable creatures.

Collecting loot will play a major part in the game and there will be an auction house feature where players can spend in-game gold to buy new items.

Diablo III will be available on May 15 for Windows and Mac.

Max Payne 3

The titular character of the game, Max Payne, has seen better days but the gruffy anti-hero is back again for more bullet-time action and mayhem.

The game is set in Sao Paulo, Brazil eight years after the events of the second game with Max working as a private security for a wealthy family. However things soon take a turn for the worse with the kidnapping of his employer's wife.

Gamers can expect an action packed single-player game with run-and-gun shooting coupled with cover mechanics.

BACK FOR MORE: Hardboiled detective Max Payne may sport a new look but he can still shoot his way out of any situation.

Max Payne 3 also steps in today's modern era of multiplayer gaming, letting players create their own John Woo-inspired gunplay moments using their friends as targets. Players can join and form crews to play together in online matches.

Be prepared to lock and load because Max Payne is ready to bring on the pain come May 15 on the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360.

Dragon's Dogma

High adventure in a fantasy world setting awaits adventurers in Dragon's Dogma. The game sets players loose in a large open-world environment, with a full day-night cycle, in search of the dragon that stole the hero's heart.

DAUNTING: You will face all manner of large monsters like the Cockatrice on your adventures in Dragon's Dogma.

Players will be able to customise their hero with a choice of nine different classes that include a class of heroes called Striders that rely on climbing on large enemies like dragons, a la Shadow of the Colossus to slay them.

Valiant heroes won't be in the fight alone as they can receive assistance from three accompanying party members, whom players can issue orders to.

The game is set to be released on May 22 on the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360.

Sorcery

In the PlayStation3 exclusive game Sorcery, you take on the role of a sorcerer's apprentice who must protect his homeland from the Nightmare Queen using various magical spells.

The game will make full use of the PlayStation Move and the navigation controller to move the main character, Finn, through the world. Combat is done through the use of magic spells like Arcane Bolt that is flung at enemies using the Move controller.

What is especially interesting about Sorcery is the ability to combine spells like a firewall with a tornado to send a flaming current of wind towards enemies.

The game is more than just a kid-friendly Move-enabled title as it requires pinpoint accuracy to defeat enemies.

With any luck Sorcery might just be the game to convince you get to the Move controller for your PlayStation3 this May 22.
