PETALING JAYA: After more than a decade, the adoption of software-as-a-service (SaaS) continues to grow and evolve regionally within the enterprise application markets, said industry researcher Gartner.
Sharon Mertz, its research director, said increasing familiarity with SaaS, continued oversight on IT budgets, the growth of platform-as-a-service developer communities, and interest in cloud computing are driving adoption forward.
According to Gartner, SaaS financial applications are the most popular purchases, followed by enterprise resource planning, office productivity suites, and customer relationship management.
"The top issues encountered when deploying SaaS vary region to region, with longer-than-expected deployments being the top issue in the Asia Pacific" said Mertz.
In Asia Pacific, SaaS revenue is on track to hit the US$934.1mil (RM2.8 trillion) mark this year - an increase from the US$730.9mil (RM2.19 trillion) last year.
