NEW SERVICE: Models posing with a smartphone running the Voopee-XOX app.
PETALING JAYA: Mobile Network Operator, XOX Berhad has introduced a new communications app for smartphones.
The Voopee-XOX app, jointly developed by XOX and Teligent Telecom, provides users with a SIM-free mobile number that can be used to make free calls and send SMSes to other Voopee-XOX users.
It can be used together with an existing mobile data service or over a WiFi connection. XOX said it also offers mobile data only plans with prices starting from RM18 for 300MB.
Voopee-XOX users can also make voice calls and send SMS to any Malaysian phone number for 22sen per minute and 10sen per message.
Also, users of the app can receive international calls without roaming charges and make international calls back to Malaysia at local call rates as long as they have an Internet connection.
XOX plans to update the app to include MMS and instant messaging services.
The app is currently available for Android smartphones for free and is available for download on Google Play.
A version for iOS is scheduled for next month while BlackBerry, Windows Phone and PC will get the app in the coming months. - CHONG JINN XIUNG
