IF you are shopping around for a powerful gaming notebook with a 3D display then you're in luck because Toshiba has unveiled its most powerful machine yet in the form of Qosmio X870.
It has a 17.3in HD display (1,920 x 1,080-pixels) capable of displaying images, videos and games in 3D. The notebook can also stream 3D content to a 3D HDTV via its HDMI port.
Toshiba claims its LightBoost technology will allow 3D images to be displayed up to two times brighter than conventional 3D screens.
It's designed to handle the latest games and HD movies with its third-generation Intel Core i7-3610QM processor, 3GB nVidia Geforce GTX670M and up to 16GB RAM.
It also has a 750GB hybrid hard disk with SSD (solid state memory) which offers both a large storage space and speedy access to applications.
Four Harman Kardon stereo speakers tuned with Slipstream technology allows the bass to achieve high outputs with low distortions and the SRS Premium Sound 3D audio enhancement creates a vivid surround sound experience.
It also has a Sleep & Music feature which allows the user to use the speakers even when the notebook is powered down.
Other standard features include a Blu-ray drive, two USB Sleep & Charge ports for charging devices when the notebook is in sleep mode or powered off, and a backlit keyboard for hassle-free gaming in the dark.
The X870 ships next month with a price tag that starts at RM7,499. - ZAM KARIM
