LG Electronics has announced its 2012 Cinema 3D Smart TVs, most of which have upgraded 3D and Smart TV features as well as an all-new design with very thin bezels.
The three models in the series, namely the LM9600, LM7600 and the LM6700, come with bezels that are only 1mm thin.
The 3D feature while still featuring LG's flicker-free 3D and comfortable passive glasses, has now been upgraded with an adjustable 3D depth control, allowing users to adjust how much or how little "depth" they want in their 3D videos.
Also new on the audio front is "3D Sound Zooming" which processes the audio signals to provide a more realistic sound stage.
Another interesting feature for the new HDTVs is Dual Play which allows two gamers playing a split screen multiplayer videogame on a console to play the game in full screen on the TV using special Dual Play passive glasses.
Instead of a tiny side-by-side or stacked split screen, each player will see a full screen image that is not visible to the other player and vice versa.
The models will also feature a new Magic Remote control, which now not only allows users to point at the screen to select items, but also supports gestures and voice control as well as a scroll wheel to move up and down in pages.
WiFi is also built in for the LM9600, LM7600 and LM6700 models, and these models also have Intel's WiDi (wireless display) technology, which allows for easy wireless connection of compatible notebooks to the HDTV to mirror the notebook display or watch movies.
Each series and model differs slightly in size and features. For example, each model has a different MCI (motion clarity index), with higher numbers denoting better clarity of high speed motion when shown on the HDTV.
The LM9600 only comes in 55in size and has a recommended retail price of RM17,999, the LM7600 comes in 47in and 55in models for RM7,999 and RM12,999 respectively.
Finally, the LM6700 comes in 42in, 47in and 55in variants for RM4,499, RM5,999 and RM10,999 respectively. - TAN KIT HOONG
