IT was an unforgettable night for many who grooved to their favourite videogame music at Video Games Live concert last week.

The videogame soundtracks were hand picked by Malaysian fans on Facebook and the evening's entertainment kicked off with a rocking medley of Konami's classic vampire hunting game, Castlevania. It was followed by many other big hits such as Super Mario and Final Fantasy.

Fans cheered when Tommy Tallarico, founder of Video Games Live and the National Symphony Orchestra, recreated the best of classic and modern videogame music.

There was even a special pre-show Guitar Hero contest and the winner perfomed on stage with the orchestra.

Some came dressed up as their favourite videogame character to take part in the cosplay costume and the crowd cheered for their favourite contestant.

Other highlights of the show included a stunning rendition of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater's titular song Snake Eater by the series' composer Norihiko Hibino playing the saxophone with vocals by Laura Intravia.

The night continued with other fan favourite tunes from games like Pokemon, Mass Effect, Halo, Final Fantasy VIII and Street Fighter II.

The concert took place in Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur. - CHONG JINN XIUNG
