A versatile Handycam

PICTURE PERFECT: The VG20 uses an Exmore APS HD CMOS sensor for capturing great video quality and low noise in low light.

SONY recently introduced its newest interchangeable lens camcorder, the Handycam NEX-VG20.

The camcorder gives videographers the freedom to choose from Sony's growing range of E-mount lenses (used on its NEX series cameras) for shooting Full HD video and high resolution still photos.

It comes with a SEL18200 f/3.5-f/6.3 telephoto zoom e-mount lens with built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation system.

The benefit is that you have eight other E-mount lenses to choose from and you can even expand your lens options to use Sony's A-mount lenses using a LA-EA2 adaptor.

The 16-megapixel VG20 uses an Exmore APS HD CMOS sensor for capturing great video quality and low noise in low light.

The camcorder records in AVCHD format with a choice of 25p or 50p frame rate options.

Videographers can review their footage on the camera's 3in LCD display that can also rotate up to 270-degrees for easier framing.

It also features several enhancements over its predecessor including comprehensive manual controls, improved image quality and sound.

It also has an ergonomic grip that allows users to use it for low-angle shooting. For better audio quality, it comes with a stereo microphone that can capture 5.1 surround sound. It also offers audio level control.

Sony's Handycam NEX-VG20 is available now for RM7,999.
