PETALING JAYA: In conjunction with its 25th anniversary this year, the administrator of the ".my" Internet addresses - .my Domain Registry - is offering a special price for new registrations in all domain name categories.
New ".my" domain name registrations will only cost RM25 each until June 22. It normally costs RM120 to register for the ".my" domain name, and RM80 for ".com.my".
.my Domain Registry said this is the lowest price it has offered throughout its 25 years of service.
It started out as a small unit known as Mynic (short for Malaysian Network Information Centre) parked under the applied-research agency Mimos Bhd, with a staff strength of 10.
As of May, it has registered 194,275 domain names. It hopes to get 500,000 organisations in the country to register for a domain name by 2016.
