SEATTLE (Washington): After finding success with its low-cost Kindle Fire Android tablet, Amazon.com Inc is now looking to launch a smartphone that would compete with Apple's iPhone and devices running Google's Android platform.
Bloomberg reports - courtesy of "two people with knowledge of the matter" - that Amazon is working with Chinese manufacturer Foxconn International Holdings Ltd to build the device.
"A smartphone would give Amazon a wider range of low-priced hardware devices that bolster its strategy of making money from digital books, songs and movies," writes Bloomberg. - AFP/Relaxnews 2012
