KUALA LUMPUR: Barracuda Networks Inc is offering local users of the soon-to-be-retired Google Postini security service a new lease of life in the form of its Barracuda e-Mail Security, as well as Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall services for up to six months.
Thiban: "With these offers, they can try out our services risk-free for up to six months, which will give them enough time to evaluate and decide (if they want to stay on)."
Baracuda Networks Malaysia regional manager Thiban Darmalingam said that while it is Google's right to push its customers to Google Apps, Barracuda recognises that the users may want a choice.
"With these offers, they can try out our services risk-free for up to six months, which will give them enough time to evaluate and decide (if they want to stay on), he said.
He added that Barracuda does not collect any customer information for the purpose of serving advertisements.
Google had announced earlier that it will shut down Postini - the e-mail filtering and archiving service it acquired in 2007 - and shift its users to Google Apps, which will include Postini features, next year.
Google Postini customers around the world who choose not to transfer their accounts to Google Apps will have their Postini service terminated, which could leave their e-mail inboxes at risk from spammers and phishers.
