Toshiba goes wide

Toshiba Singapore Digital Products & Services Group has just introduced a new Ultrabook called the Satellite U840W which the company claims is the first to feature a 14.4in 21:9 aspect ratio screen.

Designed with movie buffs in mind, the 21:9 aspect ratio of the Satellite will fit films shot in 2.35:1 aspect ratio in full screen without black bars.

The Satellite also comes with Harmon Kardon stereo speakers built-in with SRS Premium Sound 3D audio ehancement to complement the screen.

The machined aluminium body with soft-touch trims houses a thrid generation Intel Core processor, a 500GB hybrid hard drive with 32GB of SSD (solid-state drive), three USB 3.0 ports (one of which features Sleep and Charge function), HDMI out, multi-card reader, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and 1.3-megapixel webcam.

As it is an Ultrabook, it's slim (about 20.8mm thick) and weighs only 1.57kg, and battery life is rated at up to eight hours.

The Satellite will be available from Sept 24 onwards and the price starts from RM3,999. - TAN KIT HOONG
